Server Hellbender

Hellbender Servers are responsible for providing warm hospitality to guests, executing the restaurants steps of service in a professional yet natural manner and maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of the food and beverage menu.

Reports to: FOH Management

Direct Reports : None

Key Relationships: Bartenders, Bar Backs, Hosts and Guests/Regulars

FLSA Classification : Non-Exempt

Responsibilities:

Menu Knowledge

  • Keeps up to date with Hellbender food menu and can describe all dishes and style of service in a clear fashion
  • Maintains continuous working knowledge of Hellbender s liquor selection, cocktail offerings, wine selections, and beverage menu
  • Understands different types of allergy restrictions and can guide guests through the menu seamlessly, knowing what can be substituted and changed to accommodate the guests requests
  • Learns and understands the cooking techniques and processes used in the Hellbender kitchen

Station Set Up

  • Sets up service stations for service according to step-by-step guide and specifics in the service manual
  • Works with the rest of the service team to ensure that the dining room is fully set up in time, offering help to teammates as necessary

Service and Guest Experience

  • Maintains a warm, hospitable and friendly environment for guests and fellow teammates
  • Provides thoughtful and professional service to guests, following Hellbender steps of service
  • Balances professional behavior and service while maintaining authentic and friendly

Sidework

  • Follows sidework guidelines provided by Hellbender management
  • Maintains cleanliness of dining room and server stations throughout service
  • Understands DOH guidelines and consistently follow best practices laid out by Hellbender management team

Cash Responsibility

  • Strictly follows general business guidelines for cash handling
  • Carefully detects counterfeit tender with provided materials
  • Properly rings in all drink and food items ordered by guests

Qualifications:

2+ years of serving experience in a similar caliber concept

Excellent food and beverage knowledge, specifically in beer, wine, cocktails and spirits

Ability to multi-task, problem solve, critically think and delegate when necessary

Takes initiative and follows through

Excellent verbal and written communication in English

Demonstrates attention to detail

Understands restaurant POS systems

Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule per the needs of the business

Physical:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Ability to bend/climb stairs as necessary

Ability to lift/push 50+ lbs.

Meets grooming standards as outlined by employee guidelines

Ability to perform essential job responsibilities and maintain professionalism under pressure

Attends mandatory meetings, including staff meetings

Completes other duties as assigned by the FOH Management

Education:

Bachelors Degree or Certification in Hospitality-related field or equivalent expertise gained from time on the job

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($16.50) plus tips
