Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for Housekeeping Team Lead to work on 1st Shift. The primary purpose of this position is to perform housekeeping duties in the assigned area. The employee follows a work schedule that covers all phases of housekeeping required to maintain a clean environment for patients and staff. This position also assigns duties to Environmental Services Assistants in the workgroup in the absence of the Environmental Services Supervisor ll in order to ensure that the quantity and quality of work performed adheres to housekeeping standards and that the workload is distributed fairly.

Housekeepers perform a variety of duties while cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, common areas, lobby areas, offices, bathrooms, and other assigned areas both inside and outside the hospital building by using the appropriate disinfectants and cleaners to enhance the overall appearance and sanitation of the hospital.

They also operate various pieces of heavy cleaning equipment, perform medium to heavy physical work, and will need to follow written and verbal instructions. Much of the work is performed independently, but you will also be part of a team and must be willing to be a good team member. We expect that you will be pleasant, courteous, and thoughtful around patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Checks presence/absence of group members as they report to duty.
  • Authorizes leave requests made by assigned Environmental Services Assistant.
  • Makes job assignments to provide adequate coverage for provision of services.
  • Distribute keys for each area covered.
  • Checks employee, services provided and assigned work area to assure quality of work, timeliness of services, adequacy of supplies and equipment, and safety hazards or faulty equipment.
  • Confers with other Hospital staff to assess need to alter work schedule as may be determined by special events or activities in the assigned area.
  • Attends supervisor's meeting.
  • Conducts monthly quality and safety inspections.
  • Arranges for additional assistance as necessary to provide services.
  • Takes measurement for blinds.
  • Maintains supplies in assigned area(s) through use of the NC Accounting System (NCAS).
  • Manages requests for services via the Event Tracking Program.
  • Submits repair requests through the Facility Dude web link.
  • Checks e-mail and other correspondence on a routine basis.
  • Cleaning ceilings, light fixtures, vents, and walls
  • Dusting and polishing furniture
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, dust mopping, and wet mopping
  • Sanitizing hard surfaces
  • Buffing and polishing floors and shampooing carpets
  • Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, including replenishing paper supplies and soap, as needed
  • Emptying trash receptacles; and
  • Performing other related duties as requested by the supervisor or management

The normal work schedule for 1st shift is Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 2:30 pm, and Rotating Weekends

  • These positions are designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
