Grounds Operations
Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support Grounds Operations as a Groundskeeper on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2025.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
Identifies, prepares, and applies herbicides, pesticides, chemicals, and fertilizers
Maintains turf by mowing, seeding, sodding, edging of sidewalks, and watering
Assists with tree trimming, clean-up, and removal
Operates lawnmowers and various equipment used in landscaping and parking lot maintenance
Performs general and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment (i.e., sharpening blades, changing oils, lubricants, filters, belts)
Operates pressure washers to clean the exterior building cleaning
Adheres to OSHA standards, employs safe practices, and follow safety policies/procedures
Performs routine landscaping task within assigned areas such as:
Weeding, pruning, edging, trimming, planting, blowing, and cutting
Shift Specifics
Up to 25 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Proposed Salary
$10.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
