Perform skilled landscaping and manual work necessary to maintain campus grounds.
Moderate physical effort required involving long periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching overhead and periodic pushing, lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs.; frequently traveling between buildings on campus; routine exposure to moderate levels of heat, cold, moisture, air pollution, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, dust, chemical and mechanical hazards.
- Ensure the appearance of the campus grounds is presentable at all times (i.e. shrubs are trimmed; weed killer applied; flower beds are free of weeds and/or debris; trash cans, picnic tables and benches are in their proper place, mulch and pine straw put out as needed.
- Operate lawn and grounds equipment including but not limited to backhoe, tractor, mowers (riding and push), blowers, trimmers, power washer and chainsaws.
- Repair and maintain campus walkways and lots.
- Removes refuse and trash from grounds.
- Adjust, clean and perform minor mechanical work on grounds equipment.
- Willing and able to work outside for long periods of time, in various weather conditions.
- Apply pesticides and herbicides as needed and be familiar with the instructions on the label.
- Assist the maintenance staff when needed.
- Report any security or maintenance concerns to the Director of Facilities.
- Be familiar with OSHA regulations and report any known deficiencies.
- Practice safe work habits such as lifting, climbing, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in professional development activities provided by NCC.
- Participate in College events and activities.
- Maintain regular on-site attendance during normal hours of college operations consistent with expectations and College policies and procedures.
- Initiate and answer telephone calls and video conference calls.
- Perform other duties as assigned which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of NCC.
- Serve on various committees as assigned.
- Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.
