Sussex County Community College is seeking part time Culinary Service Staff. This part-time position is needed to support operational needs of the culinary institute specifically as we expand offerings to the public particularly the restaurant, community workshops, charity events and other initiatives.
This position is necessary for the restaurant and bakeshop operations, working in the front of house serving guests in the dining room and using the point of sales & reservations systems.
Must be available Thursday evenings and Friday mornings. 15-20 hours per week.
Anticipated start date on 08/28/2025
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the mission of the college and the department
Working in the front of house serving guests in the dining room and using the point of sales & reservations systems necessary for restaurant and bakeshop operations.
Providing exceptional dining service to guests including
Taking Orders
Point of sales entry
Serving food & drinks
Clearing tables
Assist with the culinary institute's retail, community operations and special events, including nights and weekend coverage,
Performs other duties as requested.

- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility around the kitchen labs, storage areas and dining room for periods of up to five hours in length.
- Ability to provide exceptional guest experiences
- Demonstrate ability to tolerate demanding workloads effectively under stress and maintain professional composure in a variety of scenarios.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift 35lbs comfortably.
- Ability to work with a broad spectrum of students found in a community college environment with emphasis on student mentorship and retention.
- Prior experience in the hospitality industry, preferred.
- A deep appreciation, understanding, tolerance, and commitment to free speech and diversity in an academic organization.
- Ability to exercise good judgment concerning College policies and procedures.
