GENERAL MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

OVERVIEW:

DeSales University, in Center Valley, PA, is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts Salesian, Catholic university, under the leadership of the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales. Founded in 1965, the 550-acre suburban campus is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia and about 90 miles southwest of New York City. A total enrollment of nearly 3,500 includes undergraduate day and evening students, and graduate students. POSITION SUMMARY:

The general Maintenance Mechanic's responsibilities will include general repair and maintenance of heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems as directed. Typical tasks include preventative maintenance, inspection and repair of mechanical equipment and building systems, painting and repair of walls, minor carpentry projects, snow removal, general electrical repairs, special event setup, breakdown, and coverage. Assist other mechanical trades as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma/GED

3 to 5 years experience in commercial/residential setting

Essential personnel status for the University

Universal refrigeration or any other license pertaining to specific trade is preferred but not required

Ability to make prudent independent decisions, use good judgment and demonstrate integrity

Ability to work as part of a team environment

Ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

Must be able to work overtime upon supervisors request or work load

Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license and clean driving record

Maintains an availability for emergency situations and help with weekly an on-call rotation

Must be able to lift 50lbs.
