Summary Under the direction of the Public Works Supervisor, performs a full range of general custodial and janitorial duties related to the care, cleaning, and minor maintenance of assigned city buildings and park facilities; performs general ground cleanup and sets up and removes tables, chairs, and equipment for meetings Supervisory Responsibility: None. Essential Job Functions: Janitorial Duties Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor polishers, and power washers Clean restrooms, kitchens, offices, and common areas, ensuring all areas are stocked with supplies Remove trash and recycle and maintain overall cleanliness of city facilities Dusting and cleaning surfaces Washing windows and mirrors Cleaning spills and hazards Replace supplies (paper products, soaps, sanitizers) Maintain an inventory of supplies Unclogging toilets and drains Other Responsibilities Room setup and tear down for Community Center events Setting up seasonal decorations Pick up supplies for all departments as needed Assist with special events as needed Record keeping and maintenance logs both written and electronically All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Operate various types of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic devices, and equipment

Effective oral and written communications

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required

Availability of working overtime when needed

License and Certification:

Valid Texas Driver's License

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; must be able to handle, grasp, and reach with hands and arms. Employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Employee must wear City-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, confined spaces; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. In all cases, appropriate procedures and PPE will be utilized.
