Position Details
General Statement
The Residence Life Custodial Team provides cleaning and light maintenance services in and around the residence halls and associated areas providing excellent service to students and visitors in every community. The primary emphasis is on cleaning the public areas which include restrooms, carpeted and hard-surface floor care, trash removal, room set-ups and other related duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Custodial Supervisor I, the Custodian II is a working custodian who provides lead worker direction to a team of Custodian I's.
Performs routine checklist inspections and submits detailed end of day reports outlining custodial status, maintenance needs, and operational updates.
Inspects areas for cleanliness.
Ensures the work crew is completing all tasks as assigned.
Answers employee questions in regards to tasks and responsibilities.
Ensures all tracking reports are being filled out per protocol.
Verbally addresses any performance issues.
Reports any disciplinary issues to supervisors.
Assesses and organizes workload for a team of custodians.
Actively assists the Custodial Supervisor Team in training employees.
Ensures custodial staff compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety protocols and procedures, established uniform polices and standards, other department polices and procedures, etc.
Verbally addresses performance problems while reporting up any issues to the Custodial Supervisor team for possible disciplinary actions
Ensures work equipment is being maintained properly, and reports any mechanical issues to supervisors.
Maintains a current inventory of all custodial equipment and supplies that is regularly reported to supervisors.
Performs a variety of administrative tasks: producing inventory reports and orders, reviewing work orders, assisting the Custodial Supervisor Is with time sheet review, tracking furniture, etc.
Assists with pest control efforts.
Performs custodial duties in any of the areas managed by the department.
And actively participates as a member of the team while performing other duties in support of the department's mission.
Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Progressively responsible custodial experience in the hospitality and/or commercial/industrial fields or an equivalent combination of relevant education and related experience.
Experience leading, directing and/or training staff.
Proficient experience using computers and various software applications.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Certifications/classes related to custodial, sanitation, building maintenance, etc.

Will work other shifts or areas to meet departmental needs depending on the school and event cycles.

Move about or remain stationary for extended periods of time
