American Bar is a vibrant and celebrated New York City restaurant known for its welcoming
atmosphere and classic American fare. We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and motivated Prep
Cook to join our back-of-house team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients according to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
- Wash, chop, and store produce, herbs, and other ingredients.
- Assist in preparing sauces, marinades, and garnishes.
- Keep prep and storage areas organized, clean, and sanitized.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines (NYC DOH compliance).
- Support line cooks and chefs during service.
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries.
Requirements:
- Previous kitchen experience preferred but not required - training provided.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have or be willing to obtain NYC Food Protection Certificate (preferred).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
