Working hours: 10 am - 1:30 pm
Summary
The lunchroom cashier and cafeteria assistant supports cash sales of school lunch and breakfast each day and accounts for all meals per day in reports. They are a district employee who works closely with our contracted food service employees. Currently, the district uses OPPA as our contracted food service. In addition, the position supports the preparation and distribution of food each day. This position also supports minor cleaning of the cafeteria and trash removal.
Qualifications
Education
High school graduate or GED
Must successfully pass a background check
Keyboarding skills are required
Basic computer skills
Ability to learn SIS K-12 database program for lunch count
Skills and Abilities
Write simple correspondence and tally reports related to foodservice
Speak with members of the public, students, and other staff members
Computation
Ability to calculate figures: addition, subtraction, division, and percentages
Reasoning
An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Technology
An individual who holds this position must:
Be proficient or become proficient in using Tyler SIS for the purpose of accessing lunch accounts
Have strong computer skills including word processing, and working with spreadsheets and databases
Be able to understand and submit online reports to state and federal agencies
Have the ability to learn new systems and software
Other Skills and Abilities

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with a variety of staff members and the public

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position an employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use fingers and controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach and bend and lift and carry up to ten pounds. Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time is required.

Conditions and Environment
The work environment requires the management of students and regular assistance to staff members. Some parts of the school environment can be loud and some work may occasionally require the movement of boxes of food in and out of cold storage. This position is generally indoors in a temperature-regulated environment. Business-casual dress is a minimum requirement which may include jeans paired with a school shirt. At all times, a person working in a foodservice should appear clean and presentable.
