JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

• Assumes leadership role in the absence of Building and Grounds Manager.
• Repairs and maintains the interior and exterior of buildings.
• Inspects all vital building equipment, heating, cooling and plumbing systems.
• Assists in the inspection of burglar and fire alarm equipment.
• Removes snow from walk, lots and streets and applies ice melt and sand/salt where needed.
• Performs ground maintenance of property as assigned.
• Cleans up workshops, trucks and job sites.
• Performs building use setups to include tables, chairs, and other furniture as needed.
• Moves college property from one building and/or campus to the other.
• Coordinates contract services as necessary.
• This position is designated essential and may be called in for emergency situations, to include, but not limited to snow removal, structural failures, and natural disasters.
• Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of HVAC system.
• Knowledge of carpenter techniques related to general building maintenance.
• Skill in using carpentry hand and power tools.
• Ability to use a personal computer.
• Ability to communicate verbally, written form, voice, e-mail, etc.
• Ability to learn basic energy management functions.
• Ability to drive.
• Ability to operate light construction equipment.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures and harsh conditions.
• Ability to be on-call.
• Ability to lift in excess of 100 lbs.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, pull, reach and walk to complete assigned tasks.
• Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years carpentry experience and/or related building maintenance work.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
• This position is categorized as designated, as it pertains to temporary College closures or adverse conditions.
• Valid drivers license and insurability by College carrier to drive college vehicles.
• Must pass background check.
