Job Description
Under the supervision of High Meadow's Facilities and Safety Manager and CFO, the Custodian will perform all daily custodial and minor maintenance duties of the buildings on High Meadow School's 4-building campus. Tasks include nightly sweeping, vacuuming, sanitizing floors and surfaces, mopping, and trash/recycling removal from classrooms, administrative spaces, common areas, and bathrooms. Other related duties as assigned.

Ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all campus buildings
Cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms, classrooms, offices and all common areasStock paper and sanitary supplies in classrooms, common areas, and bathroom spaces
Vacuum, sweep all floor surfaces on a daily basis and mop all floor surfaces on a weekly rotation
Empty/clean waste receptacles on a daily basis
Sanitize door handles and high-touch surfaces on a daily basis
Wash windows and walls on a monthly basis or as needed
Assist in setup/take down for special events as needed
Complete minor maintenance repair work and alert supervisor to any observed campus health or safety issues
Operation of school janitorial equipment as needed
Assure security of buildings and grounds before/after school and as needed
Move, rearrange furnishings as needed/requested
Maintain indoor building appearance and ensure all aspects of campus are clean and tidy
Report any unsafe conditions or high alert maintenance issues to the Operations Team
Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and report any shortages or needs for replenishment to the Facilities/Safety Manager
Ensure compliance with safety standards while performing cleaning duties.
Respond promptly to requests for cleaning services from staff or management
Ability to :
Maintain a school site, group of buildings or office space in a clean, orderly, and secure manner.
Use common cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Operate a variety of school cleaning equipment.
Learn custodial procedures, methods and schedules.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions/directions while working cooperatively with others.
Maintain routine records such as work orders, equipment repairs and maintenance, chemical application.
Utilize independent judgment in performing grounds maintenance and activities.
Perform heavy physical labor.
Work Details
This is a full-time, 12-month position.
This position functions onsite 5 days per week (4-10 PM Monday-Thursday with the option of working an additional evening on Friday or working on one day per weekend).
The job is performed in a generally hazard-free environment.
Salary Range: $40,000-$50,000
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Indoor/outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Exposures to fumes, chemicals, cleaning agents, dust, dirt, oil/grease, odors, heights, and loud noises.
Working on ladders and from varying heights.
Direct contact with the public, students, and other district staff.
Working with or around machinery with moving parts.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of custodial and ground equipment.
Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform custodial and grounds duties.
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds.
Occasional bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Possible contact with blood-borne pathogens and/or bodily fluids.
