Cook for Residential Care Facility

Job Summary
We are a small assisted living/residential care facility looking for a cook who enjoys working with the elderly.
Serve meals that are palatable, appetizing in appearance and in accordance with established portion control procedures, on a timely basis.
Coordinate food service with other departments.
Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
Ensure that menus are maintained and review menus prior to preparation of food.
Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
Ability to prepare special diets accurately. Record food temperatures for the meals. Prepare pureed foods.
Report resident care concerns and potential issues to Administrator and/or Director of Nurses.

Skills & Qualifications
Must be able to cook from scratch.
Experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred.
Must have a Food Handler's Card.
Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Must be knowledgeable of food preparation procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
Willing to supervise and to work under supervision. To make sure all cleaning schedules are followed.

Physical Demands

The essential functions of this position require the following physical abilities:
Standing and/or walking very frequently.
Sitting occasionally.
Reaching with hands and arms frequently, pushing/pulling very frequently.
Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

Additional Requirements related to Long-Term Care:
Employees must be up to date with COVID vaccinations (or willing to get up to date) and continue to receive booster shots as available in addition to yearly flu vaccines due to working with elderly and immunocompromised residents.
Employees must be able to pass a background check conducted through DHS.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour
