Role Description:

The Sommelier is responsible for delivering all tableside service to guests by providing thoughtful and knowledgeable guidance of both the wine list and kitchen menu.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide full and exceptional service to guests by recommending wines from both by-the-glass and the wine list, dishes from the kitchen menu, and potential pairings.
  • Offer detailed knowledge of the 400+ SKU wine list to guests, recommending specific producers, vineyard sites, bottlings, and vintages.
  • Help maintain the wine cellar and perform cellar admin duties.
  • Understand and execute all steps of service while maintaining business standards for level of service in a multiple-table section.
  • Guide guests through their full experience with friendly and effective service.
  • Develop strong guest relationships.
  • Ensure excellent maintenance, organization and cleanliness at all times.
  • Uphold adherence to alcoholic beverage control procedures/policies.

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of wines, grape varieties, regions, styles, and vintages, with a particular focus on fine wines of Europe.
  • Experience with the careful handling and service of premium wines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Multiple years experience working in high-quality restaurants.
  • Experience with serving and table maintenance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for wine with a desire to learn.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive moving and lifting of products and supplies.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($16.50) plus tips
