Clarke University is seeking a dependable and hardworking Evening Dining Hall Custodian / Dish Room Attendant to join our Dining Services team. This role plays a key part in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and guests during dinner service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize dishware, utensils, trays, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashing equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of dish room and kitchen areas, including sweeping and mopping floors
- Empty trash and recycling, and replace liners as needed
- Wipe down and sanitize dining hall tables, counters, and other surfaces
- Restock cleaning supplies and report maintenance needs
- Assist in closing and securing the dish room and dining area at end of shift
- Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., ServSafe standards)
- Support other dining operations as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in food service, janitorial, or custodial work is a plus
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work in a hot, fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and safety
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Availability to work evening shifts, weekends, and occasional holidays
