The medical desk receptionist assists patients and visitors of St. Luke's. The medical desk receptionist is responsible for ensuring the environment is welcoming for patients and their families, scheduling and confirming appointments, assisting with check-in and check-out and verifying patient information.
Job Responsibilities:
- Interact with all patients in person and over the phone
- Demonstrate integrity through practicing the principles of patient care and employee confidentiality
- Schedule and confirm appointments for all providers with attention to required processes for each service offered
- Prioritize greeting patients/guests and providing outstanding customer service
- Assist patients using the electronic check-in kiosks
- Communicate with patients which providers will be seen during their visit
- Obtain patient intake paperwork and correct insurance information
- Verify patient insurance
- Collect payments and maintain daily cash log
- Create and maintain patient records
- Input patient information into NextGen
- Communicate information about patients with special needs to appropriate clinic staff
- Post payments into patient's account
- Run daily accounting reports
- Ensure the Clinic Support Department receives patient records
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and therapeutic environment
- Maintain current stock level for supplies and forms, as requested
- Participate in training of medical receptionists and certified patient services specialists
- Report and seek assistance in dealing with patient complaints/concerns
- Participate in clinic meetings/activities
- Adhere to internal controls established for department
- Participate in in-service and ongoing education programs
- Other duties as assigned by management
