The purpose of this job is to ensure the efficient and reliable delivery of Drinking Water. Provides safe, good tasting, good quality drinking water customers in sufficient quantities and at a reasonable cost. Provides reliable equipment operations needed to accomplish this endeavor. Provides support services to other departments within the city's organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Maintains operational condition of pumping assets needed to produce and move drinking water.
- Replaces, repairs, plumbs, and maintains all piping needed in the Filtration Plant
- Installs new equipment
- Diagnoses mechanical defects and makes appropriate repairs
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and plumbing systems
- Maintains records and logs
- Orders necessary parts and materials
- Provides guidance, training and direction to less experienced mechanics and plant assistants
- Performs related work as required
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
- -AND--
- At least four (4) years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair work, especially related to plant maintenance
- -OR--
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
