Position Summary
Direct and supervise kitchen service operations department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines for the Georgia Center kitchen. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Georgia Center kitchen with a staff size of 20+. Maintain and promote a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees. Works as a liaison between related departments and oversees all aspects of the kitchen to ensure high standards of food quality and eye appeal while presenting a professional and positive image of The Georgia Center.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Extensive knowledge in various cuisines and foods
- Present a professional image of leadership
- Possess strong administrative and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on guest service
- Direct and motivate Food and Beverage staff with varied job positions
- Culinary degree and experience as Chef/ Sous Chef
- Prior management experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to operate heavy duty industrial Kitchen equipment
Physical Demands
Stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally needed to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Driving to perform job related duties.

- Directly supervises all kitchen operations including ordering, scheduling, costing, and cleanliness and preparing menu.
- Devises special dishes and develops recipes.
- Establishes and enforces nutrition and sanitation standards.
- Oversees and maintains high standards of food quality, service, and cleanliness.
- Maintain professional relationship with vendors.
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
- Enforce, conduct, and promote regular staff and safety trainings for department equipment.
- Ensure safe conditions. Correct any unsafe conditions immediately.
- Be aware of and understand O.S.H.A. guidelines.
- Direct hiring, training, and development of kitchen department. Always support safe work habits and a safe working environment.
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of food quality, service, and cleanliness.
- Maintain records as required for all state and federal agencies.
- Be knowledgeable of state and federal laws regarding employee and customer health and safety.
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
- Help foster the development of the food production team and utility/sanitation staff.
- Attend department meetings when needed to keep all departments informed.

- Participate in hiring, training, and development of kitchen department.
- Conduct evaluations of all immediate department staff and accurately document disciplinary action.
- Support all food operation areas (such as banquets, catered events, Savannah Room restaurant service, and Bulldog Bistro).

- To keep area clean and ready for certified inspection at any time.
- Read, understand, and adhere to all present and future Georgia Center policies, rules, and procedures.
- Be Food Manager Certified with Servsafe per Georgia health code.
