Job Summary - Banquet Captain
At Homestead | Midway, the Banquet Captain plays a key leadership role in delivering
exceptional service for weddings, corporate events, and special gatherings in our scenic Wasatch
Mountain setting. This position oversees the setup, execution, and breakdown of banquet
functions, ensuring that each event meets our high standards for hospitality, presentation, and
guest satisfaction.
The Banquet Captain works closely with the banquet manager, culinary team, and service staff to
coordinate timing, delegate responsibilities, and maintain smooth operations from start to finish.
They serve as the primary point of contact for the client during the event, promptly addressing
requests, solving problems, and ensuring that service runs seamlessly.
Ideal candidates will have strong leadership skills, clear communication abilities, and a passion
for creating memorable guest experiences. This role requires hands-on involvement, attention to
detail, and the flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead banquet staff in the setup, service, and breakdown of assigned events.
Ensure table settings, buffet arrangements, and service stations meet property and client
standards.
Coordinate event timelines, liaising between culinary and service teams.
Provide on-the-spot problem-solving to maintain smooth event flow.
Serve as the main point of contact for clients during events, ensuring satisfaction.
Train, coach, and motivate banquet team members.
Monitor staff appearance, service standards, and adherence to safety protocols.
Complete post-event reporting and inventory as needed.
Qualifications:
Previous banquet or event leadership experience required.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods.
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
