The starting rate of pay for this position will be within 15% of the grade range minimum. The rate determined will depend on experience and qualifications.

Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:

This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.

  • Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
  • Maintain a clean and healthful environment for employees and park patrons.
  • Pick up trash on park grounds and trails and empty trash containers.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms and ensure supplies are readily available.
  • Set-up and clean-up for public events held in City parks.
  • Clean, remove, or paint over graffiti.
  • Dust windowsills, blinds, horizontal and vertical surfaces and clean interior windows.
  • Clean interior and exterior glass.
  • Sweep, mop and/or vacuum floors, including under furniture.
  • Spot clean walls, doors, and drinking fountains.
  • Buff floors as needed.
  • Remove snow and ice from downtown square area and parks and trails.
  • Assist as assigned in all aspects of the division including grounds maintenance, facilities maintenance, equipment maintenance, athletic field maintenance and urban forestry.
  • Install holiday lights which typically involves working from aerial lifts and ladders.
  • Perform semi-skilled physical labor and operation of light and heavy-duty equipment in the construction, maintenance and repair of park facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Secondary duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or GED is required and one year of related experience is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses, offenses against children, and any offense that would qualify to prevent a person from obtaining an Arkansas teaching certificate (A.C.A. 6-17-410).
  • Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to operate general cleaning equipment.
  • Must be able to operate various hand and power tools, mowers, bush hogs, utility vehicles, trailers, tractors, backhoes, chalker, irrigation systems, scoreboard controllers, blowers, weed-eaters, trimmers, chainsaw, aerial lift, grinder and chipper.
  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk and sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities to perform essential functions.
  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
