McCain Farms is seeking an experienced Line Mechanic to join our Fall Harvest team. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing grading equipment and conveyor systems, ensuring efficient and safe harvest operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical maintenance, including belt lining, bearing replacement, and lubrication, preferably in an agricultural or industrial environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform mechanical breakdown repairs and proactive maintenance of grading equipment, conveyor belts, and related machinery
• Line conveyor belts to ensure optimal alignment and functioning
• Change and grease bearings as part of routine and preventative maintenance
• Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and completion of hot works permits for welding (training provided as required)
• Safely lift and transport materials weighing between 2550 lbs
• Operate effectively in outdoor settings and inclement weather conditions
• Observe equipment conditions and provide timely feedback to the Supervisor/ Manager
• Maintain excellent attendance and demonstrate reliability throughout the harvest season
• Work independently and as part of a team, supporting other staff as needed
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• A valid Class 1 or Class 3 drivers license is considered an asset

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:

• Adhere to all safety protocols, resulting in zero safety incidents related to maintenance work and consistent use of PPE.
• Receive positive feedback from supervisors and team members regarding communication, reliability, and teamwork.
• Respond to breakdowns within established response time targets, ensuring minimal disruption to harvest operations.
• Keep repair costs within budget by using parts efficiently and accurately tracking inventory.
• Participate in technical training or safety briefings as required, demonstrating continuous improvement in skills and knowledge.

KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:

• Proven experience with grading equipment, conveyor systems, and mechanical components.
• Proficient in belt lining, bearing replacement, and lubrication practices.
• Skilled with hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, grease guns, alignment gauges).
• Ability to read and follow maintenance schedules or repair manuals.
• Understanding of workplace safety and basic risk assessments.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
• Willingness to embrace change and operate with a sense of urgency.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Physical capability for material handling and outdoor work.
• Previous experience in a farming or agricultural environment is an asset.

OTHER INFORMATION

• Travel: As required.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours, including some weekends, is required
