Position Summary:
As a Concessions Cook at Keeneland Hospitality, you are responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality food in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You will help ensure food is made safely, efficiently, and to Keeneland’s high standards of quality and presentation. This role is key to delivering an outstanding guest experience and keeping our concessions operation running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food items to order using grills, fryers, ovens, or other kitchen equipment.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cooking and food prep areas.
- Follow standard recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency.
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, portioning, and assembling menu items.
- Monitor food temperatures and cooking times to ensure proper doneness and safety.
- Restock ingredients and supplies as needed during shift.
- Communicate effectively with cashiers, food handlers, and other team members to ensure timely order fulfillment.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of the kitchen area before and after service.
- Adhere to Keeneland uniform and grooming standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Prior cooking or food prep experience is preferred, particularly in a concession or fast-paced kitchen setting.
- Knowledge of basic food safety, handling, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work involves standing, bending, reaching, and working in hot, noisy environments.
- Exposure to cleaning agents, hot surfaces, and sharp objects.
- vailability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and holidays.
Licensing Requirements:
- A valid Fayette County Food Handler’s License is required for all food and beverage staff. Must be obtained prior to the first scheduled shift. ServSafe certification also accepted.
- A Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license is required for all track workers. This license will be provided to you on behalf of Keeneland upon hire.
