The General Maintenance Technician II serves as the first responder for maintenance within the assigned facilities and is responsible for conducting daily walk-throughs and inspections of buildings, including common areas and mechanical rooms. This position responds to service and work order requests in prioritized order and ensures the proper operation of all building functions, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. This position provides customer service to building occupants to ensure all maintenance requests have been addressed and communicates daily with designated contacts regarding the status of work requests, outages, and scheduled. This role makes general maintenance repairs and replacements as needed to building equipment and systems, as well as performs preventative maintenance. This position also assists other maintenance personnel as needed, completes the required daily paperwork, and reports any issues in the assigned buildings to the supervisor.
This is a required personnel position that necessitates the employees physical presence in the workplace. The employee must also report to or remain at work during university emergencies or closures and maintain a valid drivers license that is insurable under the Universitys insurance policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct daily inspection tours of all common areas and mechanical rooms in assigned buildings to ensure all systems are functioning properly. Generate work orders for any necessary repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance on all capital equipment located within the assigned buildings and maintain mechanical rooms in a clean and orderly manner.
Perform services and repair requests reported by building occupants in a prioritized sequence. Keep occupants updated on the status of all outstanding and completed work orders. Assist other mechanics and craft areas as needed or time permits. Position may require overtime as needed and approved.
Accurately complete daily white cards documenting all daily work assignments.
Perform other related work as required by the supervisor.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
