I.Position Purpose

The Facilities Custodial Technician maintains the cleanliness of the college's facilities. This may include assistance with grounds maintenance.

II.Duties and Responsibilities

ENSURE BUILDING CLEANLINESS: The Facilities Custodial Technician will clean and disinfect rooms, furnishings, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, stairways, outside entrance areas, and other facility areas as assigned. This includes maintaining dispenser systems, emptying trash receptacles, collecting recyclable material and assuring that the material is put into special carts.

UTILIZE POWERED EQUIPMENT AND MANUAL DEVICES: The Facilities Custodial Technician will use a variety of devices to complete tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, polishing, waxing, buffing, dusting, sweeping, washing, and carpet shampooing.

MAINTAIN CUSTODIAL EQUIPMENT AND SAFELY USE CLEANING PRODUCTS: The Facilities Custodial Technician will be responsible for assuring that all custodial equipment remains in good working order. The Technician will assure that all equipment is cleaned and stored as per the manufacturer's recommendations. The Technician will be responsible for the safe and consistent use of all cleaning chemicals in accordance with product labels, MSDS sheets, and the manufacturer's recommendations.

REQUISITION SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT AND MAINTAIN A PROPER INVENTORY: The Facilities Custodial Technician will assure that supplies and equipment are readily available by completing timely requisitions for inventoried cleaning agents and equipment.

PERFORM BASIC SEMI-SKILLED MAINTENANCE FUNCTIONS: The Facilities Custodial Technician will monitor the HVAC system and other operating systems and be proficient with handling basic maintenance repairs. The Technician will maintain proper building security.

DEMONSTRATE PROFESSIONALISM AND QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE: The Facilities Custodial Technician will demonstrate professionalism and provide quality customer service in accordance with the College's values. Additionally, the Technician will maintain positive working relationships, make decisions and solve problems. The Technician will maintain confidentiality, positive communication, accurate records, and an organized, safe working environment. The Technician will also exhibit flexibility, willingness to learn, ability to change, and maintain current technology skills.

III.Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills

Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of twelve months of commercial or industrial janitorial experience

Valid driver's license.

Ability to perform duties in various locations, both inside and outside including confined spaces such as dropped ceiling, under desks, etc.

Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 75 pounds and push/ pull up to 150 pounds.

Ability to climb, work from a ladder, mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, clean windows, pick up litter, use snow shovels, brooms, etc.

Ability to perform while using applicable safety and personal protective equipment.
