Bastion is nutritionist owned and operated and is 100% gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free and soy-free. We make everything in-house using high quality,anic & seasonal produce, regenerative, pastured & sustainable meats & fish and are proud to offer 100% house-made breads, pastries, bagels and other baked goods.

We're looking for a part-time, 30 hr per week early morning pastry baker to round out our excellent team as we continue to grow in ourmissary kitchen. Are you the right candidate? If your answer is a big YES these questions, then we're looking for you!

The position we're looking for will be around 30 hours, Wednesdays - Sundays 4am - 10am every week plus an opportunity for additional shifts / event work as needed. This position works in our newly openedmissary kitchen (not at our restaurant location in Sellwood) with our other bakers and prep cooks.

Our housemade gluten-free breads, rolls, bagels, and pastries are part of what set us apart from other restaurants and bakeries, and we strive to bring someone in who wants to be the very best version of themselves with Bastion.

What you'll be producing:

1. morning pastry bake-off for our restaurant pastry case and wholesale accounts which includes a variety of cookies, muffins, and donuts

2. weighing and mixing ingredients for all of our pastries and corresponding garnishes such as donuts, muffins, cookies, berry breakfast bars, glazes, chocolate sauce, berrypote, etc.

3. scooping cookie doughs

4. scoring and cutting bars and other baked goods using large knives and other cutting tools

5. mixing large batches of flours to create house-made gluten-free flour blends

This position requires the following:

1. ability to follow detailed recipes

2. ability to work in a self-guided manner with a sense of urgency as this is a solo position

3. use of largemercial equipment such as 60qt Hobart mixer,mercial ovens, proof box, etc.

4. ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 50lb. regularly

5. ability to work as part of a team, including receiving and providing feedback to colleagues,munication of baking schedule,munication of oven and proof box use (depending on shift length, multiple bakers may be using the same equipment at the same time), etc.

We are 100% gluten-free and refined sugar free, often grain-free and paleo as well. No fillers, gums, or soy. While many of our items are vegan, we do also appreciate the use of eggs and occasional ghee!

Bastion is Female Owned & Operated by a trained Nutritionist; our focus is on the health & wellness of our clients & staff.

Gluten-free baking experience is preferred but not required for this role as we will provide all baking training, but previous kitchen / restaurant experience is a must.
