Performs a variety of tasks in the distribution of patient meals, obtaining patient menu selections at bedside, assembling and distributing patient snacks, maintaining patient meal delivery carts, courtesy carts, maternity meal carts, nourishment carts, cleaning and stocking work areas, other duties as requested by supervisor. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Experience: One year experience in hospital food service preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to accurately work with numbers as it would relate to the performance of assigned duties. Proficient with computer systems, electronic devices (including tablets), and other electronic devices as necessary, and wireless phones. Possesses exceptional customer service skills and is able to relate to others effectively and in a professional manner. License/Certification/Registration: None required SUPERVISION RECEIVED Receives general supervision from the department manager and supervisors. SUPERVISION GIVEN None ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1) Responsible for obtaining patient menu selections, distribution of patient meals and snacks, and collection of all patient meal service items delivered to patient rooms. a) Visits patient rooms to obtain patient and guest menu selections at bedside as per policy and procedure. b) Prints and processes patient tray line meal tickets per policy & procedure, assuring accuracy with all current active diet orders. c) Promptly distributes patient and guest meal trays according to policy & procedure. d) Consistently follows all isolation precaution policies when entering and exiting isolation rooms. e) Assists with the prompt assembly and delivery of patient late meal trays. f) Reports any patient nutrition questions or concerns to dietitian or supervisor immediately. g) Requests additional food items or trays, as needed, to meet patient meal service needs. h) Assists patients with tray set up by offering to open containers, pour hot beverage, and cut food bite sized as requested by patient. i) Meets snack schedule deadlines; prepares, assembles and delivers (between meals) snacks for patients. j) Collects all patient meal trays and service items delivered to patient rooms. k) Completes records and paperwork associated with the meal/snack service. l) Documents fluid intake on I&O sheet, food/beverage intake on Calorie Count Sheets, intake for carbohydrate counting as per policy, and other documentation as requested. 2) Maintains clean work area, and assures equipment is in operating condition. a) Reports malfunctioning equipment to a supervisor immediately as problems are identified. b) Maintains patient meal delivery carts, including but not limited to, patient meal tray delivery carts, maternity meal carts, courtesy carts, and nourishment carts. This involves thoroughly cleaning, stocking and resetting carts. c) Maintains clean and orderly work area routinely during the course of the shift, and completes assigned cleaning assignments prior to the end of the shift. d) Cleans equipment and returns supplies used in the performance of duties to their proper location, before the end of the work shift. 3) Assures compliance with Medical Center and Department policies and procedures. a) Maintains established department and Medical Center policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance and control, safety, environmental and infection control. 4) Participates in continuing education and department in-services. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
