Job Description

what you will accomplish

The Food Runner is primarily responsible for delivering orders from the kitchen to customers' tables rapidly and accurately. It is this person who will maintain the cleanliness of the expo line, organization of order tickets, and communicate effectively with BOH team. The Food Runner will also be responsible for the initial expediting of carryout and catering orders for the Pool Bar outlet.

  • Maintain warm, hospitable guest relations in all guest contact.
  • Responding to individual guest needs as they occur.
  • Answer questions and make suggestions regarding menu item selections, preparations of items, and cocktail and wine recommendations.
  • Prepare garnishes for drinks.
  • Deliver ice to the Pool Bar and lounge.
  • Set-up bars for use by bartenders.
  • Mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, and any other mixers to prepare the perfect cocktail for our guests.
  • Monitor guests to fulfill any additional requests and determine when their Food & Beverage experience is at an end and the guests are ready for their bill.
  • Compute bills, collect payment, and make changes for guests as needed.
  • Responds to all guest requests and informs guests of hotel services, features, room amenities, shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Ask for and confirm any future dining reservations.
  • Respond to and resolve all guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Thoroughly completes projects and assignments professionally with care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Report all items in need of repair to supervisor and maintain equipment used in work.
  • Protect guest safety and well-being.
  • Adjust to high pressure conditions and is open to change.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development.
  • Always conducts him/herself (acts and dresses) professionally; sets standards for all.
  • Expresses ideas and conveys information clearly, effectively, and professionally.
  • Works to resolve disagreements and is respectful of peers and co-workers.
  • Scrupulously follows all Ko'a Kea Hotel & Resort policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

what you will bring

  • Knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
  • Good mathematical and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to accurately use various Microsoft Office and PMS software.
  • Ability to actively listen to others.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in fast paced position with constant guest interaction.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, standing, and handling of materials.
  • Ability to be a team player.

great if you have

  • Must have knowledge of all hotel departments and events.
  • Must have good mathematical and computer skills.
  • High school education and relevant training and experience required. Additional education is preferred. Knowledge of the local area required.
  • CPR and first aid training are preferred.
  • Additional language ability are preferred.
  • Red/Blue Card or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Food Handler's Car or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
