Transfer Station Utility Worker

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the cleanliness of company premises and equipment including scale house, transfer station and grounds.
• Must be able to perform basic repairs
• Trash pickup at the Transfer station and roadway
• Landscaping duties include but are not limited to mowing, weed eating, blowing leaves, and cleaning up debris.
• Part pick-up, item drop-off and running errands as needed.
• Utilize yard tractor to move trailers in and out of pit
• Prep trailers for loading and hauling by tarping and un-tarping
• Perform daily inspections to ensure trailers, loaders, and yard tractors remain safe and operational.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least 1-2 years of related experience required.
• Valid Drivers License with good non-commercial driving record

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling.
• Must be able to work long periods including some evenings and weekends as required.
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull 25-100lbs frequently.
• Hand/eye coordination for use of tools and other equipment.
• Constant exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures toxic chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke and loud noise.

The Martinsville Transfer Station Utility Worker is responsible for keeping the buildings, grounds, and inventory clean, orderly, properly maintained, safe and secure. The Utility Worker will handle landscaping and custodial duties as directed performing skilled and unskilled tasks in the upkeep and repair of facilities and transfer station. The candidate will be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of company premises and equipment. The Utility Worker will also assist in Truck Switching duties utilizing a yard tractor to move trailers into and out of the pit, preparing trailers for loading and hauling, tarping, and un-tarping trailers.
