ESCALON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT RECEPTIONIST/CLERK JOB SUMMARY Under supervision, to perform varied secretarial and clerical work functions; to use a computer and application software; and to do other related work as required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION May include, but not limited to:
- Answer the telephone and initiates outgoing calls.
- Assist office visitors by making telephone inquiries; by answering questions pertaining to routine policies, regulations, and operational procedures; or by referring those making inquiries to appropriate offices; assists in student registration process.
- Act as a receptionist arranging appointments and meetings.
- Compile information and prepares reports as required.
- Review records, reports, and data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with predetermined and standardized procedures.
- May prepare input data in the operational functions of the office to which assigned.
- Assist supervisor by following up on administrative or clerical detail, which may include contact with members of the educational community.
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment, including but not limited to microcomputers, typewriters, copy machines and computer terminals.
- May administer routine first aid and contact appropriate persons and agencies in the event of serious illness or injury.
- Assist students and staff.
- Assist in supervision of students, at lunch and other times.
- Perform other duties as directed, consistent with the general areas of responsibility.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and Application of: Modern office practices, procedures, and techniques; English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Standard office machines and equipment, including computers and computer terminals. Ability to:
- Learn and apply policies, regulations, and operational procedures; use good judgment, meet District minimum requirements through practical and/or written examination;
- Perform secretarial and clerical functions of average to above average difficulty with speed and accuracy;
- Make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy;
- Type or keyboard at a net corrected speed of 35 words per minute;
- Establish and maintain an automated data management, storage, and retrieval system;
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
- Establish and maintain cooperative/confidential working relationships.
- exert 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- sit, walk or stand for extended periods.
Education / Experience: Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, preferably with courses in keyboarding, computer skills, office methods and procedures. One year clerical or secretarial work or equivalent desirable; experience with children-related work desirable.
