Building Maintenance Worker - Part - Time

Rate: $15.00/hour - starting rate based on prior experience and education

Location: Penitentiary Glen Nature Center, Kirtland, OH 44094

Position Description:

Under the direction of the Facility Manager at Painesville Township Park, the part-time Building Maintenance Worker performs a wide range of building maintenance functions to ensure the maintenance and safety of park facilities. Responsible for the daily upkeep of the buildings with particular attention to public spaces. Must be flexible to work up to 28 hours per week, including weekends, weekdays, some evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintains Park buildings and amenities including shelters, restrooms, and other structures, including snow and ice control.

Assists with opening/closing buildings and construction activities.

Performs custodial tasks before and after daily visitation, park programs, rentals, and community events which may include sweeping and mopping the floor, washing tables, emptying trash/recycling, washing windows, cleaning restrooms and stocking with toilet paper and hand towels.

Performs special projects as assigned including construction, painting, electrical and plumbing.

Orders and stocks maintenance supplies and equipment.

Maintains equipment in good working order.

Assists with set-up and tear down of large special events and park programs.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience and knowledge in custodial and building tasks required.

Experience in working with outside vendors preferred, contractors.

Position Requirements:

Basic skills in construction, painting, painting, electrical, and plumbing tasks.

Ability to safely operate ATV's, skid steers, dump trailers, tractors, snow blowers, small power tools, and other power equipment and hand tools as required Skilled in customer service and interpersonal

Ability to conduct snow removal with machinery or shovels.

Ability to productively work with limited supervision and must be self-directed.

Ability to follow directions and set priorities.

Ability to perform physical labor and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Variable work schedule, up to 28 hours per week.

Required to work flexible hours, which may include weekends, evenings and holidays.

Required to frequently travel to area parks and other locations.

Must possess a valid drivers' license and insurable on the Agency's liability policy. Background check required.
