Custodian/Full-Time: St. Michael Parish and School is hiring a full-time Custodian (12 PM-8 PM, Mon-Fri, $18-$22/hour). We're looking for an experienced, dependable individual to help keep our campus clean, safe, and welcoming. Duties include cleaning, basic maintenance, and event setup. Previous custodial or maintenance experience required. Must pass a background check and be Safe Parish compliant.

Please see the full description: Under the direct supervision of the Principal and Director of Facilities, the Custodian performs general cleaning and maintenance of school buildings and campus facilities. This position ensures that classrooms, common areas, and grounds are clean, safe, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors. The custodian also assists with event setups, minor repairs, and seasonal maintenance tasks.
We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated candidate who can perform basic maintenance and custodial duties without extensive training. Strong English and writing skills are preferred.
Essential Functions:
Open and secure the building at the start and end of each shift, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
Clean classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, restrooms, and other areas according to school standards.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, blinds, windows, doors, sills, and woodwork.
Wash walls, ceilings, and other surfaces; remove graffiti and clean glass areas.
Set up and break down tables, chairs, and other equipment for meetings or events.
Remove snow from entrances and walkways; spread ice-melting chemicals as needed.
Perform groundskeeping duties including debris removal, light landscaping, and lawn care.
Maintain custodial equipment in good working order.
Work in various environments, including offices, classrooms, and church facilities, with occasional outdoor tasks in inclement weather.
Safely handle cleaning chemicals, solvents, and waste materials.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in building cleaning, maintenance, or custodial work is required.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and extended periods of walking or standing.
Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).
Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of a background check.
Compliance with Archdiocese of Cincinnati Safe Parish requirements.
