Our art decoinspired space sets the stage for vibrant, seasonal cuisine with a spark of fun. At Joylark, we craft exquisite dishes, provide exceptional hospitality, and have a great time doing it. Opening in early October, we are hiring all positions, to start mid-September.
Position: Pastry Chef, Full-Time
Were looking for an experienced and inspired Pastry Chef/Baker to join our team, working with our Sous Chef and Chef-Owner. As our Pastry Chef, you will help bring Joylarks culinary vision to life, ensuring that the bakery and dessert portions of our menu are prepared with excellence, ultimately bringing happiness to our guests. - Prepping, cooking, and baking desserts, pastries, and bakery items for service.
- Training other kitchen staff to execute items when you are not there to execute them personally.
- Working creatively with the Chef-Owner and Sous Chef to marry the pastry program with the rest of the menu, creating the visually stunning and delicious treats, while maintaining profitability.
- Ensuring efficiency and excellence in food preparation.
- Upholding standards of cleanliness, safety, and organization in accordance with health regulations and Joylarks kitchen culture.
- Ensuring exceptional quality and consistency in every dish, every service.
- Assisting with inventory management and cost control.
- Assist other areas of the kitchen, with opportunities to explore Front of House.
- 2+ years in a similar position in upscale (or up-casual) kitchen environments.
- Flexibility to work in all areas of the kitchen when needed.
- Experience in vegan or plant-based pastry arts is highly preferred, but curiosity and the willingness and ability to learn and adapt is paramount.
- Formal culinary training or equivalent professional experience with strong knowledge of classical techniques.
- Abilities to work under pressure, and to make the most of less busy times
- This position is mostly daytimes, but flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed is necessary.
- ServSafe certification preferred.
- A professional, happy attitude and demeanor, and ability to get along well with others.
- At least 18 years of age.
