A Host presents a positive first impression of the establishments friendliness, excellent service, and high standards. The Lead Host is responsible for plotting each service to ensure all reservations have tables and that walk-in Guests are accommodated and/or put onto a waitlist. Lead Hosts also greet all Guests upon arrival, inform Guests of their wait time, monitor a waiting list, enter Guest names into the reservation system, check Guest coats and belongings, show Guests to their table, and bid Guests farewell as they leave.
Host must be able to carry on a natural conversation with Guests without sounding scripted or intrusive. Additionally, the Host cares for our Guests by performing light housekeeping duties such as sorting menus, keeping the host stand area around the host stand, and coat check tidy, cleaning the front door, and/or other light housekeeping duties. As a member of an energetic team, the Lead Host may also need to answer the phones and take messages as needed. Host shifts may be breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and will include weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
Managing the shift reservations ensuring service flows and Guests' needs are met
Greet incoming and departing Guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; direct Hosts to escort Guests to their assigned dining area; present menus
Inform Guests of basic information about offerings at the restaurant or other bar-lab venues on property or locally
Make reservations for Guests inside and calling into the restaurant
Answer incoming calls to the restaurant and provide appropriate service
Manage the flow of Guests into the Dining and Bar areas; provide accurate wait times to incoming Guests, if appropriate
Call Guests to confirm reservations or answer questions, as necessary
Communicate with other Hosts, Guest tables, and/or special needs
Communicate Guest notes to Managers, Kitchen, and Service Team by using chits
Tend to special guests' needs and requests
Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to all bar-lab policies and procedures, sanitation standards, safety, and alcohol control policies
Maintaining a strong and friendly presence at the door
Recognizing, welcoming, and noting restaurant regulars, VIP Guests, and/or critics
Communicating to the kitchen the necessary information about Guests and covers
Checking, securing, and returning Guests' belongings
