Exact shifts may vary from site to site; a typical shift is from 2pm-11pm.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of cleaning and custodial maintenance duties in assigned buildings and facilities. Examples of Duties REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Clean and sanitize restrooms, showers, locker rooms, shops, cafeterias, gymnasiums, offices and related facilities; dust and polish furniture and woodwork; empty waste receptacles; spot mop spills; remove gum, debris and graffiti as needed. E Sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and polish floors; vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other work areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets. E Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walkways and areas adjacent to school facilities; remove and dispose of banners and posters; sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to school building. E Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restroom facilities including sinks, toilets and urinals; fill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items; clean mirrors, tile and windows; unclog drains and toilets. E Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines, steam cleaners and other equipment as assigned. E Move and arrange furniture and equipment; prepare classrooms and multi-purpose rooms for special events or meetings; set-up and assemble chairs, tables and other furniture and equipment for special events and activities; clean up furniture, equipment and debris following these events. E Perform various custodial activities including replacing light bulbs and tubes, cleaning chalkboards and erasers and emptying pencil sharpeners. E Raise and lower flags; unlock and lock doors and gates, assuring facilities are properly secured; set alarms as appropriate. E Participate in thorough cleaning and restoration of a school plant during school vacation periods. E Maintain routine records related to assigned activities. E Communicate with District personnel to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns. Perform minor maintenance and repair activities.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Climbing ladders and working from heights.

Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals.
Working on ladders.
Potential for contact with body fluids.
Working around and with machinery with moving parts.
In accordance with Personnel Commission Rules and Regulations of Classified Service # 70.200.1, new employees to Poway Unified School District will be placed at Step 1 (Minimum Salary) of the official salary range designated for the position.
