ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of tasks is illustrative ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class. Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by emptying trash receptacles and bagging trash for proper disposal, tidying furniture, and dusting surfaces

Sweep surfaces and mop floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets

Clean and sanitize toilets/urinals, sinks, showers and water fountains; clean mirrors, tile, and light fixtures; unclog drains and toilets

Restock disposables (e.g. paper, soap)

Wash interior and exterior walls and windows; clean blinds

Move, adjust, and arrange furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools; use ladder as required

Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools

Replace light bulbs and perform minor repairs as directed

Assist with setup of facilities for meetings and events

Report damage and/or repair needs to facilities

Maintain time and production records

Interpret MSDS sheets and use chemicals to specification

Secure facilities by locking doors, closing windows, and setting alarm systems

Other duties as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to communicate effectively and understand verbal and written instructions

Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures

Ability to safely use hand and power tools applicable to the trade

Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects

Detail oriented and conscientious; ability to meet schedules and timelines

Work cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Summary

SUMMARY: Performs routine custodial maintenance duties of organization facilities during an assigned shift, and maintains buildings and adjacent grounds in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition.
