Custodian - Williamstown Elementary School

Anticipated Schedule:Permanent Part-Time: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM 8:00 PMIn addition, there is a current voluntary temporary opportunity for full-time coverage due to a long-term absence of a permanent full-time custodial staff member. Temporary full time hours would be Monday through Friday, 12:30 PM 8:00 PM (with a 30-minute unpaid meal break) for a period of time up to twelve (12) weeks.Position SummaryUnder general supervision, the Custodian performs a variety of custodial duties to support the operations of classrooms, school facilities, and administrative spaces. Custodians ensure that the school environment remains clean, orderly, sanitary, and secure. The position requires reliability, independence, and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team. Custodians are evaluated annually by the Principal, with evaluations submitted to the Superintendents Office.Essential FunctionsClean, sweep, mop, wax, and dust floors and surfaces.Wash windows, walls, and furnishings.Collect and dispose of trash; clean receptacles.Maintain inside and outside cleanliness of buildings.Arrange and move furnishings; transport and deliver supplies.Operate vacuums, floor machines, buffers, and other custodial equipment.Perform minor repairs and adjustments using hand and small power tools.Adhere to safety standards and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.Maintain productive and courteous working relationships with staff and community.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMethods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.Safety practices related to cleaning products and custodial equipment.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Ability to maintain work schedules and perform tasks independently.Ability to obtain certifications in mandated safety programs, as required.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Six months of related custodial experience preferred.Ability to demonstrate knowledge of custodial procedures, equipment, and cleaning products.Must meet all employment requirements, including federal SAFIS/CHRI and state CORI background checks.
