Groundskeeper / Facility Worker - Full Time - Days

The Facility Groundskeeper(s) are responsible for a variety of grounds, maintenance and other related responsibilities that are performed on behalf of the Facility. Responsibilities also include minor Facilities repairs and preventative maintenance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, including fire drills, evacuation, disaster protocols, and personal role during emergencies; participates in on-call programs and responds to unscheduled emergencies when needed.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work environment by identifying and addressing hazards (e.g., wet floors, blocked areas), following universal precautions and infection prevention protocols, and using proper lifting techniques.
  • Ensures tools and equipment are used safely and maintained properly; reports damaged items, performs lockout/tagout procedures when necessary, and keeps equipment clean and presentable.
  • Performs routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, weeding, seeding, transplanting, and maintaining gardens, flower beds, walks, and driveways.
  • Removes snow and ice using manual or power equipment and manages refuse and yard waste removal appropriately.
  • Completes basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC tasks, and assists with routine maintenance and repair of medical center facilities and equipment.
  • Ensures medical center vehicles are clean, safe, and undergo necessary routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Moves furniture and equipment as needed, assists department team members, and adapts to shift changes or extended hours as required.
  • Performs duties in a safe, professional, and customer-focused manner, with attention to quality and responsiveness.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of workspaces, shop areas, and outdoor grounds to ensure safety and operational efficiency.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education - High School Diploma / GED or experience
  • Experience - Ability to operate mowers, tractors, and other landscape machinery. Ability to operate a snowplow truck properly and safely. The ability to maintain landscaping and snow removal equipment.
  • Licensure - A clean valid NYS Driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires the ability to lift objects. The groundskeeper understands what equipment is necessary to be used when lifting. The functions of this job will require bending, walking and lifting. This position requires the ability to work in rainy, hot, and cold weather conditions throughout the year.

Pay Range Disclosure

  • $21.20 to $25.79 per hours
