The Best Western Corte Madera Inn is looking for a part-time Laundry Attendant that will work Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday from 8:30am - 5pm. The Laundry Attendant job relates to work primarily located in the hotel laundry area and on guest room floors. This work is to load dirty linen and run washers, load and run dryers, and to fold dry clean linen, organize, sort and store linen in the laundry room, storage closets and on housekeeper supply carts. This work will regularly include working on the guest floors stripping dirty vacant rooms of all linens, pre-spotting linens while soil is visible and returning these linens to the laundry room. On occasion this job will perform work cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and trash collection in various public areas in the hotel and laundry. The cleanliness of the hotel and linens is a key to meeting our hotel quality and guest standards. Thus, attention to every job detail is very important to the success of the hotel and achieving and exceeding job performance requirements. This position is required work weekends and holidays during your regular scheduled days.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to arrive to work on time when scheduled.
Basic knowledge of general laundry cleaning principles, use of laundry products and operation of standard laundry room equipment washers and dryers.
Must be able to communicate and understand supervisor and coworkers in English.
Must be able to read and identify correct product labels for the proper machine.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position: constantly stand and walk up to 6-8 hours a day; climb stairs; repetitive and constant grasping/gripping, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulder height; and frequent stoop, kneel, and bend up to 5-7 hours a day; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or squat up to 2 hours a day, ability to lift, carry and move constantly 11 to 29 pounds, frequently 30 49 pounds, and occasionally 50 -75 pounds, push and/or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 lbs. frequently (2-4 hours a day).
Vision requirements: must be able to constantly need to see small details (close vision) and things clearly beyond arms reach (distance vision), color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus (6 to 8 hours a day).
Hearing requirements: must be able to constantly hear and talk (6-8 hours a day).
Must be able to keep up with the demands of the department.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, the Laundry Attendant must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility in a safe and satisfactory manner, and be punctual, and have a good attendance record. In addition, the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a Laundry Attendant with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
Follow all health and safety practices.
Sort, load dirty linen, and run washers, load and run dryers, fold dry clean linen.
Assist with stripping of dirty linen from vacant dirty guestrooms.
Distribute linen to storage shelves, closets and Room Attendants as needed by driving cart to the storage areas.
TASKS
1) Open and unlock laundry room door, turn on lights in laundry room in beginning of shift and at the end of the shift shut off all lights and lock all doors.
*2) Sort the dirty linen that is already in laundry area remaining from prior day. If enough weighted linen, put in washer and start load.
*3) Obtain room list from front desk. Go to vacant rooms and strip beds of linen and bathrooms of towels and shower curtain/liner, pre-spotting as necessary. Place dirty linen in laundry carts, pushing from room to room.
*3) When cart is full with dirty linen push cart to laundry shoot and place linen into laundry shoot individually (not rolled into ball) and release. When cart is empty, continue on to next room to continue stripping dirty linens from rooms.
*4) Remove linen from laundry bags and sort.
*5) Fill washers with desired amount of weighted linen. Start washer.
*6) When washer load is complete, empty washer and put load in dryer and start dryer. Start new load of dirty linen in washer.
*7) Remove linen when dry. Fold all dry linen and stock on shelves.
*8) Throughout the day, use provided cart to take clean linen up to guest floors to stock Room Attendant carts when linen supply is low.
9) At the end of the shift, clean lint traps of washers and dryers and clean laundry carts.
*10) Change detergent/softener/bleach cartridges when needed while wearing protective equipment: gloves and goggles.
*11) Keep the area clean at all times, including sweeping and mopping the floor when necessary.
12) Other related tasks upon request.
*13) Comply with all Company and Department safety rules and policies.

The employee is occasionally (2-4 hours/day) required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally (2-4 hours/day) lift and move up to 15 pounds and push up to 100 pounds on a cart. Employee must have the ability to occasionally (2-4 hours/day) reach above shoulder height to place linen on shelves. Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vison, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
