Responsible for the legal selling and serving of alcoholic beverages and pull-tabs at Overlook Lounge, Café, and Catering events.
Essential Functions
- Works at Overlook Lounge, Café, and catered events.
- Assists in the preparation, set up, and clean up of food and food service area.
- Serves food to event attendees and restocks supplies as needed.
- Serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and restocks supplies as needed.
- Sets up and breaks down bar and food service areas as needed.
- Ensures all patrons are of legal drinking age.
- Prepares beverage booth for liquor sales.
- Maintains cleanliness, organization, and security of work area.
- Monitors guest behavior and alcohol consumption to promote responsible drinking.
- Prepares and serves food to customers in a polite and professional manner.
- Performs routine cleaning of equipment.
- Notifies Overlook Chef of any repairs and/or maintenance requiring attention from a service contractor.
- Monitors and maintains security of the workspace while on duty.
- Collaborates with supervisor, coworkers, and guests to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.
- Assists other facility users with directions and questions.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, and public.
- Operates the point-of-sale (POS) system rings up sales, receipts payments, gives change, etc.
- Maintains change/refund fund in accordance with jurisdiction.
- Oversees staff to ensure they are preparing items in a proper manner.
- Ensures food is prepared and ready for sale with limited wait time while also limiting excess food items at the end of the day.
- Regular and timely work attendance.
- Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training.
- Follows all policies, procedures and practices related to alcohol service, food handling/sanitation guidelines, and general safety.
- Knowledgeable and committed to safe and legal alcohol and food service practices.
- Skill to communicate effectively with a variety of groups.

- Ability to keep accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and assume responsibilities with minimal direct supervision.

- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Prior bartending and/or food service experience.
- Experience working in a municipal, public, or community-oriented setting.
- On a continuous basis, must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
- On a frequent basis, must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel and to perform custodial duties.
- On an occasional frequent basis must be able to lift 20 pounds from floor to waist and have the ability to carry it over 25 feet.
- On an occasional basis must be able to lift 10 pounds over head.
- On occasional basis, must be able to climb a step ladder.
