Overview
The building and grounds custodian will be responsible for cleaning restrooms, sweeping, mopping and waxing floors. Vacuuming carpets and rugs. Picking up trash inside and outside of the building. Cleaning the interior of windows and other glass surfaces and dusting furniture.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and maintains restrooms for public and staff by sweeping and mopping floors, sanitization of toilets and sinks, and cleaning mirrors and walls
- Replenishes bathroom supplies as needed, request supply orders in a timely manner
- Dusts and cleans all exposed surfaces (shelves, tables, windows) in public and staff areas
- Cleans and maintains floors by sweeping, mopping, stripping, and waxing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets as needed
- Collects trash inside and outside, place recycled materials and bins in designated location
- Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance as needed
- Ensures that all materials and equipment to be used in the department is on hand and in good repair
- Monthly check ins on all safety equipment
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
- Non-exempt - Full-Time
- Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed
- In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
