CSO is looking for a part-time Shelter and Housing Triage Specialist for our shelter, Friends of the Homeless (FOH) in Springfield.
This position will connect homeless individuals with services and housing, whether they are in shelter or not in shelter. The role also manages the front desk to triage individuals seeking shelter, make referrals and assign guests to case managers.
This is a weekend position.
As a Shelter and Housing Triage Specialist:
You Will:
- Screen homeless individuals that provide consent using the VI-SPDAT screening tool as well as the housing Match Initiation Form (MIF) and enter all information into a shared data platform.
- Assign individuals to a Housing Navigator: assign shelter guests to the Housing Navigator at FOH and non-shelter guests to Housing Navigators in the community.
- Work closely with the Coordinated Entry System (CES) and FOH programming teams, and collaborate with other CES providers in assigning Housing Navigators.
- Be familiar with overall performance goals of CES, the Shelter and Housing Triage Specialist role, and how homeless individuals may fully utilize the CES.
- Provide regular feedback to CES team members regarding the Housing Triage process.
Your Background:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- College degree (preferred)
- Computer proficiency
- Experience with community resources and similar populations (preferred)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
