The Field’s at the Wilderness Pastry Chef position is a culinary professional dedicated to the preparation of a diverse array of baked goods and desserts within a professional kitchen environment. Their responsibilities extend beyond baking; they embody both artistic and technical skills, designing, preparing, and often presenting exquisite sweet and savory dishes. The role of a pastry chef combines creativity and technical expertise, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of baking science, an artistic sensibility, and a genuine passion for desserts.
This is a part- or full-time position with night and weekend availability.
Essential duties and tasks of the position include but are not limited to:
- Dessert Preparation: Design and produce a diverse selection of desserts, including cakes, pastries, cookies, pies, tarts, and various baked goods.
- Menu Planning: Partner with the executive chef and restaurant management to curate seasonal or specialty dessert menus.
- Ingredient Management: Ensure that all ingredients are adequately stocked, fresh, and stored appropriately, and place orders for supplies as necessary.
- Baking and Decoration: Supervise the baking process to maintain the highest quality standards for desserts. Apply meticulous decoration to cakes and pastries, showcasing creativity.
- Quality Control: Conduct taste tests and modify recipes to ensure consistency and quality. Ensure that desserts are visually appealing and align with customer expectations.
- Communication: Engage with members of the pastry team, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and to established standards.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the pastry kitchen and equipment clean, sanitized, and organized in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Innovation and Creativity: Remain informed about current pastry trends, techniques, and innovative dessert concepts to continually enhance the restaurant's offerings.
