Job Title: Elementary Night Custodian

Location: Tallmadge Elementary

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Elementary Night Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and secure

environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position involves routine cleaning, minor

maintenance tasks, and ensuring the school building is in excellent condition for daily

operations. The custodian works after school hours and plays a vital role in the upkeep of the

facility.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and

• sanitizing surfaces.

• Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and floors.

• Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper.

• Set up and break down rooms for meetings, events, and school functions.

• Ensure hallways, classrooms, offices, and common areas are well-maintained.

• Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and

• reporting larger maintenance issues.

• Monitor the security of the building, ensuring doors and windows are locked at the end of the

• shift.

• Respond to emergency cleaning needs as required.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a secure school environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous custodial or maintenance experience is a plus.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and

• standing for long periods.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

• Dependable, responsible, and able to follow instructions.

• Knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment, and safe handling procedures.
