Job Description

Under the direct supervision of assigned supervisory or management staff incumbent is responsible for the security and custody of assigned public buildings; to keep building and surrounding area clean and orderly and to do related work as required. Oversees the use of building facilities by day or in the evening and maintains the physical environment for activities held there. Makes arrangements for opening and closing building. Checks door windows and heating equipment (i.e. boiler system) for proper operation. Sweeps scrubs mops waxes and oils floors. Dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork. Cleans rest rooms. Washes windows and walls. Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment and setting up areas or rooms for special events or meetings. Makes minor non-technical repairs replacing lights adjusting shades or blinds or adjusting desks and other furniture. Orders and maintains supplies. May drive a city vehicle including a pickup truck in running errands or delivering supplies. Performs related duties as required. Performs general clean-up of grounds around the Harold Runnels Center and other work sites as designated. May pick up office and janitorial supplies from the City Warehouse. Performs minor maintenance on buildings and equipment. Work schedule involves duty on Saturdays and Sundays.

Additional Information

STARTING HOURLY PAY: $12.60 p/h MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: One (1) year of janitorial light building maintenance or semi-skilled maintenance experience Valid Driver's License (state of residence). Must meet City's insurability requirements Other Conditions: Must pass a background check.
