Pool Server

Position Overview

At Ingleside Estate, Pool Servers are more than order-takers—they are curators of relaxed yet refined experiences by the pool. With a polished, approachable demeanor and in-depth knowledge of food and beverage offerings, you will guide guests through our menus with enthusiasm and care. This role is integral to creating a service experience that reflects Ingleside Estate’s old-Hollywood charm and Avalon PS HM, LLC’s dedication to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and professionally, providing attentive service from arrival to departure.
• Clearly communicate daily specials, promotions, and menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods.
• Accurately take, confirm, and enter food and beverage orders into the POS system, using correct table, seat, and guest count information.
• Deliver food and beverages promptly and consistently, ensuring guest satisfaction throughout the visit.
• Maintain strong knowledge of poolside menu offerings, including cocktails, wine, and beverages; confidently answer guest questions and make thoughtful recommendations.
• Upsell proactively, suggesting wine pairings, specialty cocktails, or desserts to enhance the guest experience.
• Present and process final checks quickly and accurately; handle cash and card payments with attention to detail.
• Complete assigned side work, restock stations, and support fellow team members to maintain a seamless and elevated pool environment.
• Stay current on all menu updates and chef features to provide knowledgeable guidance to guests.
• A key requirement for this role is punctuality, including showing up on time for scheduled shifts, in uniform and ready to work, and adhering to all rest and meal break standards as well as the company’s attendance policy.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a server in a resort, fine dining, or upscale poolside/bar setting.
• Must be at least 21 years of age (to serve alcoholic beverages).
• Exceptional communication skills and a guest-first attitude.
• Knowledge of food, wine, and beverage pairings preferred.
• Able to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced, outdoor service environment.
• Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate crowded or wet areas while carrying trays for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, lift, reach, and move items throughout the shift.

Required Certifications

• Valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification – State of California
• Valid Riverside County Food Handler’s Card

At the historic Ingleside Estate & Melvyn’s Restaurant, an old Hollywood glamour runs deep: Built in the 1920’s for the heirs to the Pierce Arrow Automobile Company, it was later purchased in 1935 by Palm Springs pioneer Ruth Hardy. Through the years, Ingleside served as a Palm Springs escape for A-list names including Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, and Elizabeth Taylor, with a legacy that's still felt in its serene, hedge-lined grounds. A relaxed elegance is palpable throughout the 30 Spanish Revival rooms and suites, and on the lush lawn with pool and hot tub.
