Kentucky Department of Education - Corbin Area Technology Center is a Technology Center that offers many career choices and gives students the opportunity to choose and reach the career goal of their choice.

The Facility Maintenance Worker II is a vital part in helping to reach these goals for the students, as it provides a safe, clean, and secure environment and helps the school operate smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • General maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds.
  • Maintains and makes necessary repairs to all electrical systems, plumbing, and associated equipment.
  • Making carpentry repairs to buildings and equipment. Performs janitorial duties in maintaining buildings and adjacent areas. Paints surfaces and operates machinery and equipment as well as performs duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: NONE

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
