Hosting and serving guests amunity-oriented, non-alcoholic kava bar.
Bula Kava House is amunity space for gathering. We don't often have turnover, as employees remain with us for years. We cultivate a supportive, relaxed and fun environment with ample opportunity for connections with our many guests. We are looking for someone with a bright demeanor, a focused work ethic, and a willingness to connect with people over kava.
The position requires being able to hold your own behind the bar, as most shifts will have you in charge and operating solo. This is a good position for experienced service industry professionals, and not usually a good fit for those new to the workforce or industry.
Position Specifics:
- must have a food handler's card and learn our menu to make smoothies/juices/bowls as ordered.
- learn about kava, and confidently rmend and serve to people both new and experienced.
- maintain daily cleaning, stocking and shift duties. these will be typical to any food service position.
- contribute to the bar's vibe through considerate and attentive care for our patrons, with a friendly demeanor and customer-oriented attitude!
Ideal candidates:
- have experience with kava or a similar interest, such as herbalism, foraging or tea ceremonies.
- are invested in excellent customer service while maintaining appropriate boundaries; would know how to read people and positively shape their experience.
- have plenty of experience in food & customer service.
-munication skills that center kindness, humor and clear boundaries. in bar service, you have to have all 3!
- available for closes and 2 weekend days.
- available to be cross trained at both our locations (SE Portland and Downtown Vancouver).
Current Shifts Needed:
- we are hiring for most shifts, but mainly need more night owls.
- open Vancouver Shifts: open (10:30am-6:30pm), close (6pm-1:30am/2:30am)
- open Portland Shifts: mid (2pm-8pm) and close (7:30pm-1:30am/2:30am)
