Position Purpose
The Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors. This role requires a warm, professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage a variety of responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy. As a representative of LILA's values and International Baccalaureate (IB) principles, the receptionist helps foster a positive, respectful, and globally minded school culture.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Greet and assist visitors, students, and staff with a welcoming, helpful attitude
Manage visitor check-in and follow school safety/access protocols
Answer and direct incoming calls, take messages, and respond to general inquiries
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office environment
Assign substitutes to vacant positions and ensure they have necessary materials and information (full-time responsibility)
Receive and distribute mail, deliveries, and packages
Monitor student arrivals and dismissals, including sign-in/out during the school day
Provide administrative support to the Principal and Administrative Assistant
Assist with data entry and student record maintenance
Support school-wide communications as directed
Demonstrate professionalism in setting the tone of the front office
Contribute to LILA's Commitment to Belonging
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs during the school day
Problem-solving skills and resourcefulness
Proficiency with computers and standard office software
Punctual, reliable, and professional in appearance and demeanor
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural competence
Desired Attributes
Previous experience in administration, reception, or customer service
Familiarity with school operations or front office procedures
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar)
Bilingual skills in Spanish or Mandarin
Working Conditions
Fast-paced school office with frequent interruptions
Regular use of phones, computers, and standard office equipment
Occasional lifting of supplies (up to 20 lbs)
Frequent interaction with students, families, and staff
