Our bartenders are the ambassadors of East Meets West Catering and, by extension, the event host(s). Our bartenders provide beverage and food service in a friendly, courteous and professional manner and assist in the overall logistics of an event by way of set-up, clear communication and a spirit of teamwork.

Essential Functions
Primarily set up event bars, including glassware, decor, and chilling beverages. Set up beverage passing stations and prepare for toasts. Set up bar fruit and garnishes for event service. Greet guests and staff in a friendly and warm manner. Take drink orders from Guests. Pour wine and beverages during dinner service. Prepare specialty drinks. Check identification of guests, to ensure that they are of legal drinking age. Clean bars, tables, and work areas. Manage bar inventory at beginning and end of shift. Ensure proper storage of all items, from equipment to perishable foods. Follow Health and Safety practices at all times. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly fashion.

Skills and Qualification

  • Minimum one year in customer service experience, plus 6 months experience bartending; previous experience in private/country clubs, hotel banquets or high-end restaurant a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine & spirits
  • Excellent track record of communication and service skills
  • Outgoing, a team player, and capable of working in a fast paced environment with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
  • Professional appearance, behavior, posture and hygiene.
  • Must be able to work efficiently and have a clear knowledge of time management.
  • TIPS Certification required.
  • ServeSafe Certification preferred

Physical Demands
The employee is required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 55 pounds or less on a regular basis.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is an on-call hourly position, with hours in accordance with business levels. Most weekday shifts begin between 12pm and 3pm and throughout the day on weekends. Requires a willingness to commit to working 2-3 Saturdays in May, June and December.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation and Benefits
Competitive hourly rate. Accrues sick time.

Other Duties
As assigned. Bartenders are occasionally asked to pick up event server duties, depending on business levels and client needs.
