Custodian / Utility - Plaza

We are seeking dependable and detail-oriented Custodians to support Chartwells at UT Arlington. Custodians play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors across both indoor and outdoor areas.

Responsibilities

Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of assigned areas including restrooms, classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust surfaces to maintain cleanliness standards.

Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.

Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.

Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.

Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Report maintenance or safety issues promptly.

Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

Outdoor/Plaza Duties:

• Sweep and mop outdoor plaza areas.
• Fill ice in fountain machines.
• Wipe down and sanitize plaza tables.
• Change out plaza trash cans and transport waste to the main trash compactor.

Requirements

Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred, but not required.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.

Reliable attendance and strong attention to detail.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if needed.

Must maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.

Janitorial

When working in a Janitorial position through Bluecrew, you may be expected to do any and all of the following:

• Working independently or in a team to clean, sanitize, and tidy varying workspaces including offices, warehouses, shopping centers or other locations.
• Safely operating mechanical or manual equipment including vacuums, waxers, mops, polishers, and other standard janitorial items.
• Operating machinery or other light equipment as trained in a safe and responsible manner
• Reaching, crouching, bending over, and other physically strenuous activities as required by the immediate supervisor
• Working on your feet at a fast pace for the entirety of the shift
• There may be a specific dress code, but if it is not listed, please make sure to wear close-toed shoes and pants.
